Jurgen Klopp admits coming back to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is something that could happen. Klopp, after a transformative nine-year spell which brought a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown in 30 years, now holds positions in a global football capacity for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed the Premier League in the previous campaign, though countless followers who adore the manager would embrace the possibility that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he told his interviewer: “I stated I refuse to lead a different club within the country. Therefore in case it's my former club...yes. It's plausible.”

“I’m 58, so I could make the decision later on, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I can just see what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on what circumstances would have to unfold to draw him back to the dugout, he confessed he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “No longing for management; I avoid standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to media briefings multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats each week.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal with the team talking freely, that’s nice. With many victories so there was often a very good mood around the place. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, crediting him for the tweaks that won the league last term. Liverpool have lost four in a row across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the suggestion it could be a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, incredible player. It’s a really good well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

He shared movingly about the death of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in in 2020, and its impact on Liverpool. The Portugal international lost his life in a car crash alongside his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It’s not about the player himself, it's his character. It's hard to picture the team environment absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. A devastating blow for the entire squad too. No one within the club will ever use it for poor performances yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Handling this individually is not easy. Overwhelming.”
