In Such Poor Health Walking Was Impossible Until a Fellow Passenger Virtually Carried Me to a Restroom.
During my 19 years old, my regular journey to work was on an crowded coach. It was perpetually full and invariably became completely full once I boarded.
During a certain commute, I started experiencing quite nauseous while the vehicle swayed around each corner. I continuously reassured myself to persevere just a little longer so the bus could arrived at where I needed to get off, so I could then rush hurriedly for the nearest public toilet to be sick.
As we neared the road leading to the stop when it dawned on me I wasnât going to hold on. In an instant, it was like a veil came over me. My vision turned hazy and muffled; similar to when one muted everything. I said to myself, âIâm going to faintâ.
Luckily I was toward the front inside the vehicle, so I took a few steps forward and requested that the driver to pull over, telling him I was going to be sick. He promptly opened the doors and I stumbled out on to the pavement.
My intention was to avoid being sick in front of six lanes of traffic, so I picked myself up and endeavored to walk across to the park on the other side, where I believed it would allow me to discreetly hide behind a bush to vomit. However I likely fainted. I sensed my limbs, but walking was impossible or see clearly, leading me to start crawling towards the grassy area.
âEverything alright, love?â
Right then, I got scooped up. There was a strong arm supporting me and a manâs voice asked, âYou right, love?â I managed to tell the unknown man that I needed to vomit. Therefore, he almost carried me down into a close-by structure and put me into the female bathroom. He inquired if I needed him to wait for me but I declined.
A few minutes later, I regained my composure to the point of sitting on the toilet and from the other side of the stall I heard him ask, âAre you OK, love? Is there anything you require?â I could not to get up just then but I was able to say thank you and shortly thereafter recovered the use of my limbs. I returned home passing the next few days recovering from what turned out to be a severe stomach virus.
I never saw the strangerâs face â just his lower half along with a sizable steelwork tools container he was carrying â but he helped me, when I was in my weakest state.
Frequently, society can make you defensive, aggressive and competitive. His act was the type of kindness that undoes that emotional callousness. He demonstrated that peopleâs natural inclination is to be kind, a trait I cherish about my fellow humans.
