Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
